. c h a r a c t e r . b i o g r a p h y . History James Evan Wilson grew up with two brothers in Westwood, New Jersey. In House's opinion Wilson spent most of his high school years without any friends, staying inside and watching endless amounts of TV. When he was 32 years old, one of Wilson's brothers dissapeared and whether or not he's still alive or just homeless is still unknown. He attended McGill University in Montreal, Canada and even retains some school pride, wearing his old University sweatshirt from time to time. Once in med school he aimed toward Oncology full-force, possibily so-inclined by the death of his uncle to cancer. He eventually ended up in the most prestigious teaching hospital in New Jersey and quickly escalated in his work, attaining a position on the board as well as becoming Head of the Oncology department. The origin of his friendship with Dr. Gregory House is unknown, except to say that they've been acquainted (at the absolute minimum) since House's relationship with Stacy seven years ago. At the tender age of forty-one he had already been divorced three times, the last of which ended when his wife Julie cheated on him - a characteristic that Wilson himself is well known for. Personality Polite and seemingly agreeable, Wilson appears most at home around his particular routines. Overall he expresses himself in a rather subdued and quiet fashion – not caring to be noticed if it isn't necessary. To the general masses he assumes the mold of a man who's got it all together, when in fact he's living a bit of a lie. His actions and manner around his patients is both supportive and sincerely empathizing, but at his core he is a subconsciously selfish person. He can be manipulative, displaying himself with what he truly believes are good intentions but carries out his acts for the wrong reasons. He is a man who needs to be needed, a compulsion that is fulfilled both by his career and personal relationships. He builds up his achievements around him to act as his façade, doing what he can to commit fully to that which the world expects of him. He is passive-aggressive in most confrontations, only becoming assertive when it is unavoidable. Wilson's fear of abandonment compels him, and his deep-seated desire to do the 'right thing' often keeps him from actually doing so. His self-confidence waivers in the face of making decisions and upholding the expectations he has for himself, and much of his time is occupied by attempting to better others while avoiding his own pressing life issues.
